Australian photographer "PETER LIK" claims that he sold a photograph entitled "PHANTOM" at worth $6.5 million and by which it will be the world's most expensive photograph ever sold.
In December 2014, Peter Lik reportedly sold a photograph titled Phantom to an anonymous bidder for $6.5 million, making it potentially the highest price paid for a photograph. Lik's claim has been greeted with much scepticism. Claims of the sale have never been proven, and the buyer has not come forward, though a lawyer claiming to represent the buyer claims that the deal was real.
The record of world's most expensive photograph was previously held by Andreas Gursky’s “Rhein II”, which sold for $4.3 million back in 2011.

Peter lik also announced that the same buyer had purchased two other photographs for $2.4 million and $1.1 million (“Illusion” and “Eternal Moods,” respectively), giving Lik four photos in the list of 20 most expensive photos of all time (he previously sold a separate photo for $1 million back in 2011).
